Event Information
About This Event
Downtown Westbrook Coalition and Sunset Ridge are teaming up to bring a fun day of racing and activities to Westbrook! This is a beautiful trail course and should be bursting with autumn colors for this mid-October race. There are some hills and turns, but the path itself is fairly even, as most of it is a mowed grass path and the rest is a trail that is used by runners. A map of the course is available on this page: http://downtownwestbrook.com/events/run-the-ridge-trail-race. If you have questions about the course, email abigail@downtownwestbrook.com. There will be a practice run of the course on Sunday, October 8, at 8am. Abigail, the race director, will be there to answer your questions, and will provide runners with the course map. There will be course markings at a couple spots, but the course is generally easy to follow. Meet at the big barn at Sunset Ridge, 771 Cumberland Street. You are also welcome to run the course on the morning of Sunday, October 1, but it will be completely self-guided.
This race will be professionally timed by RaceWire using chipped timing.
The money raised for this event will go to the Downtown Westbrook Coalition to help fulfill their mission of economic and community revitalization in downtown Westbrook.

Canicross Race Information
UPDATED on 9/27:
Formerly, we required that canicross racers had to wear a belt connected to a harness on their dog. We have updated this to allow canicross racers to participate if they have a handheld leash connected to a harness. The only restriction now is that the leash cannot be attached to the dog's neck or head. The waiver has been updated to reflect this change. We still encourage use of a belt connected to a harness, as this is the safest and easiest way to participate in a canicross race.
As before, canicross participants may only race with one dog. The dog must not be vicious and you are liable for any injuries caused by your dog.
If you have any questions, please contact abigail@downtownwestbrook.com.
Cancellation Policy
While we do not anticipate the race being cancelled, if there is any extreme weather- e.g. thunderstorms, washed out course, etc. that causes a cancellation, the race will not be postponed and no refunds will be given.
If there is less severe weather (e.g. light rain) and we still hold the race, no refunds will be given to those who choose not to race.
Refund Policy
There are no refunds for any reason, but you may transfer your registration should you become unable to participate. Please contact abigail@downtownwestbrook.com for details on how to transfer.
Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering on the day of the race, or leading up to the race, please contact abigail@downtownwestbrook.com. There will be an official sign-up page by Friday, September 29; a link will be posted here.
Practice Run
There will be a practice run of the course on Sunday, October 8, at 8am. Abigail, the race director, will be there to answer your questions, and will provide runners with the course map. There will be course markings at a couple spots, but the course is generally easy to follow. Meet at the big barn at Sunset Ridge, 771 Cumberland Street, Westbrook. RSVPs to abigail@downtownwestbrook.com with the subject "10/8 practice run" are appreciated.
You are also welcome to run the course on the morning of Sunday, October 1, but it will be completely self-guided.
See course map here: http://downtownwestbrook.com/events/run-the-ridge-trail-race/
Facility
There are at least two restrooms available for use, easily accessible in the basement of Sunset Ridge golf. We will have directional signage, but find a volunteer if you cannot locate the restrooms.
There will be water stations between registration and the start/finish line, and at the halfway point of the race course.
Activities
Shannon from the Bodhi Shop, at the Dana Warp Mill in downtown Westbrook, will be holding a FREE yoga clinic at 10am. She will also be doing warm-up and cool-down stretches throughout the day.
Corn hole and volleyball are available on site - all are welcome to play!
There will be at least one raffle basket - all runners receive one free entry, and non-runners may purchase tickets. We are still taking raffle basket donations, contact abigail@downtownwestbrook.com if you would like to donate something.
We are working on a tie-dye shirt station! We have some beautiful ARTS shirts left from our Arts in the Brook event, with lettering designed by Agy Wilson and screen printing by Infinity Embroidery and Printing. We would have these shirts for sale at the big white tent, then have a tie dye station set up. Stay tuned for details, or contact abigail@downtownwestbrook.com with questions.
Other potential items to be announced. If you have an idea, contact Abigail at the email above.
