About the “Fight the Bite 5K” Walk/Run and Community Resource Fair
This is the 3rd annual race organized by the Coachella Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District to raise awareness about mosquito threats in the Coachella Valley, including an invasive mosquito species and mosquito-borne viruses present in the Valley. The race is open to runners, walkers, strollers, and furry friends!
The Race
The 5K is scheduled Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Rancho Mirage Community Park at 71-560 San Jacinto Drive. The race begins at 8am and registration opens at 7am.
Registration: When and What You Get
Register early by Sunday, February 24, for only $20! All registered participants will receive a tech tee shirt, race bag, race photo, other goodies, and tips on how to keep mosquitoes out of your yard! People can continue to register online after February 24th but prices go up and T-shirt sizes will be limited. Registration will be $30 February 25th - March 23rd.
Awards
Prizes for the top 3 male/female finishers. Age group male/female medals. Finisher medals for all that cross the line.
Early Packet Pick-Up
Early packet pick-up will be held on Friday, March 23rd, at Running Wild – 73-760 El Paseo Palm Desert, CA 92260, between the hours of 3:00pm and 5:00pm.
Onsite packet pick-up & late registration
Opens at 7:00am the morning of the race for $35 (cash only) at the packet pick-up table. Onsite registration closes 7:45am.
Resource Fair Logistics
The Community Resource Fair will take place in the park after the race until 11am. Have fun in the park with music, games, and face painting, and learn more about city and county services, information on health related topics, and get some free mosquito repellent, a fly swatter, and other freebies!
