About the Event
The Big 5K is kicking off the most exciting time of the year...Big E season! This year, the 5K run or walk and Kids Fun Run will be accompanied by the new Big 5K Scramble – a fun race with Big E challenges around every corner. Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers in both The Big 5K Road Race and Scramble.

Do the race solo, sign up with a team or run for a cause! The first 500 people to register for The Big 5K or 5K Scramble will receive a t-shirt, a single-day admission ticket to The Big E, a free drink and cool Big E swag. Be sure to dress in your Big E best…team and solo runners will have an opportunity to win The Big E Spirit Award for a VIP day at the Fair.
The Big 5K Road Race
Gun Time: 6:45pm

Compete in a 5K through the fairgrounds on a USAFT certified course. Open to runners and walkers. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second and third place male and female finishers. Medals will be awarded to the first place male and female finishers in each age division.

The Big 5K Scramble
Gun Time: 6:45pm

Add some fair flair to the 5K by participating in the Scramble! There is a new Big E-themed challenge every lap - mini cream puffs, the McDonald's Giant Slide and a Village Game. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first place male and female finisher.

Kids Fun Run
Gun Time: 6:30pm

Dash down the Avenue of States with our mascot Krisp-E, the quick chick! The Fun Run is open to all children ages 10 and under. Registration is free with the donation of a new or gently used book. Following the race, participants can come over to Storrowton Tavern for games and a free ice cream cake ball.

NEW! Virtual Race
A virtual race is a race that can be run (or walked) from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk on the road, on the trail, on the treadmill, at the gym or on the track (or even at another race). You get to run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself. Submit your time before August 31, and we will mail you your swag bag.

Course
The Big 5K is a USATF certified course that takes participants through the Exposition's 175-acre grounds during Fair set up. Map coming soon.
Awards
The race will culminate with music, refreshments, games and an awards ceremony at Storrowton Tavern's Patio. The awards ceremony will take place 30 minutes following the race.

The Big 5K Road Race prizes for the top male and female finishers are as follows:
- First Place: $300
- Second Place: $200
- Third Place: $100

Medals will be given in each age division, with the first place winner (male and female) in each age division.
Divisions are as follows: -18, 19 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69, 70 +

The Big 5K Scramble prizes for the top male and female finishers are as follows:
- First Place: $300

Participants in The Big 5K Road Race and 5K Scramble are eligible to win the Best Team Award and The Big E Spirit Award. More info coming soon.
