About This Event
Our 2018 Superhero 5K & Fun Run is a celebration of the everyday heroes that make a positive impact in the lives of youth in DC's foster care system.This is a family friendly and stroller friendly race.
Arrival Time
Registration will open at 6:30am and will end at 7:45am. Roads will be closing to traffic promptly at 7:45am. Refreshments, music, and activities are provided. The 5K will start at 8:00am and the fun run will start at approximately 9:00am. Roads will open up again beginning at approximately 9:30am after our awards ceremony.
Directions & Parking
East Potomac Park (Hains Point) is located just south of the Jefferson Memorial and offers a riverfront trail with gorgeous views of the Potomac river. Registration and the start/finish line will be set-up near AREA 11 and there is ample parking along the roadway and near the restrooms and playground area of the park before you get to the point. AREA 11 is approximately 1 mile from the main gate to the Hains Point park.
Course
The 5K is a 3.1 mile out and back course around the point with scenic views of the river and DC. The roads will be closed to traffic during the races.
Awards
An award ceremony will be held immediately after the Fun Run. Awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers for adult men and women as well as for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers for children and teens for both males and females.
Awards will also be given to top fundraising individuals and best costumes for adult, youth, and BEST Kids mentoring pair.
T-Shirts
All 5K race participants will receive a race t-shirt (adults sizes S-XXL) while supplies last. Preferred shirt sizes are not guaranteed. Fun Run participants will receive a t-shirt if available but it is not guaranteed.
Number Pick-Up
Number Pick-Up will be held at the race site beginning at 6:30am until 7:45am. All participants must register online prior to the event date by 5:00pm on 4/20/18.
Weather
The race will happen rain or shine unless the National Parks Service declares the weather too dangerous. No refunds will be given.
