Join us for a 5k walk/run in support of the Leighton family. T-shirts for the first 100 registrants. We will also be hosting a touch-a-truck event at the start/finish site with a DJ, food, bouncy houses, face painting, and lots of amazing raffles!!
***THE EVENT IS 10:00-2:00PM, RACE BEGINS AT 10:30AM***
Emily Leighton is a wife, mother and ER nurse, but given her current battle with Stage 4 Breast Cancer and Bone Metastases her ability to function in these roles has been severely impacted. In addition to the common side-effects of cancer treatment that make daily activities and routines more challenging, Emily recently suffered a debilitating eye condition (retinal infarction/eye stroke) that leaves her unable to drive, email, text and a host of other activities most of us take for granted.
For those of you who know Emily and the Leighton family, they have displayed bravery, courage and faith since her initial diagnosis in September of 2016. Despite very generous support from multiple communities since the fall of 2016 (Family, Friends, Brockton Hospital, East Bridgewater Fire Department, Grace South Shore Presbyterian Church, Samuel Fuller School and others) there is still an unmet need for financial support related to lost income (both Emily and Matt), medical treatment and general care and support of 3 children (ages 13, 10 & 2) during this challenging time.
Emily is currently unable to return to work in any capacity and Matt is spending most his time supporting Emily and their children while they balance frequent medical appointments. Your participation in this event will be a great blessing to the Leighton family to help cover both anticipated and unanticipated expenses as a result of their current circumstances.
