About this event
The James Ransom Memorial 5K was conceived by his older sister, Julia. We hope for this run to be a family event. We want to promote the positive impact physical activity can have on mental health. The death of a child impacts not only the family, but also the community. James’s death touched many people’s lives – over 500 people participated in our inaugural race last year, and we hope to exceed this number this year. Many people have told us they want to “do something” to show our family that we are not alone. We want ensure that there are resources available to our children today so that they can navigate mental and behavioral health issues. We want to make an impact, through donations to local adolescent mental and behavioral health programs in our community.

NOVEMBER 2 - Online entries close but you can sign up at Poets Park (Tuberose Street in Ladera Ranch) or on the day of the race! Come early to make sure you are bibbed and ready to go!
Entry without signed Waiver Form will be returned. This waiver contains limitation of your legal rights. Your Signature below means you and/or your parent/guardian has read it and agrees with the statement below: WAIVER: In consideration of my, and/or my dependent’s participation in the James Ransom Memorial 5k, I hereby release and hold harmless the James Ransom Memorial 5k, City of Mission Viejo, Oso Viejo Community Park, and all of its sponsors, their affiliates, agents, servants, employees, volunteers, assigns successors, and heirs or distribution and all officials concerned for any acts, omissions, or negligence which may result in any bodily injury (including death) and/or property, loss of damage incurred by me arising out of or in connection with my and/or my dependent’s participation in this event. I warrant that I and/or my dependent are in good health and have trained sufficiently for this event. I willingly assume any risk inherent in entering this event. This waiver extends to all claims of any kind and nature whatsoever, whether known or unknown. Further, I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use any photographs, motion pictures, recordings, or any other record of this event for legitimate purposes.
